Applications: From Office to Industrial Environment
The label tapes in our selection can be widely used for office organization, labeling data storage, shelves, and folders, as well as for cable, control cabinet, and machine labeling in industrial environments. The Brady M21 and BM21 series compatible tapes are particularly popular for maintenance, electrical, and IT applications, while the Brother HGE and HS types prove effective in office and IT infrastructure.
The heat-shrink Brother AHS and HS tapes are specifically designed for durable marking of wires and cables: they remain securely on the wire after shrinking, resisting mechanical stress. The vinyl and durable polyester-based Brady M21 tapes withstand industrial environments well, providing oil, chemical, and abrasion-resistant markings in control cabinets, machine housings, and cable ducts.
Technical Considerations for Choosing the Right Tape
When purchasing, it is advisable to first select the tape width. The range spans from 5.8 mm to 36 mm, ensuring a suitable solution for every application, from fine cable labeling to large, highly visible labels. The narrow 6.35–9.53 mm Brady M21 tapes, for example, are ideal for cables and tight surfaces, while the 19.05 mm or 24–36 mm Brother HGE tapes are suitable for larger, attention-grabbing inscriptions.
Material composition is an important consideration: nylon fabric polyamide and heat-shrink tapes are recommended for flexible cables and wires, while vinyl and durable polyester types provide long-lasting marking on flat or slightly curved surfaces. Polypropylene-based tapes offer a lightweight yet durable solution, ideal for labeling data cables and patch panels.
Colors, Contrast, and Readability
Choosing the right color combination is not only an aesthetic but also a safety and ergonomic issue. Black and white, as well as black and yellow tapes, provide the best contrast, making them common for warning and identification labels. Black and red, black and blue, and black and green variations are useful for distinguishing different cable loops, functions, or classes.
- For safety and warning markings: black-yellow, black-red tapes
- For aesthetic office solutions: black-white, black-matte silver, black-silver Brother tapes
- For discreet or special marking: black-transparent tapes, allowing the carrier surface to dominate
Always check compatibility based on the printer type: Brady M21/BM21 codes fit handheld industrial printers, while Brother HGE and HS labeled cartridges can be used with the appropriate P-touch devices. This ensures reliable operation and excellent print quality for every label.
