Camera Filters and Adapters for Various Lens Sizes
On this page, you will find a wide selection of camera filters, polarizing CPL filters, color filters, and soft focus filters, as well as threaded and retro adapters. With VHBW accessories, you can make your shots more creative and control light, contrast, and colors more precisely.
Thanks to the various diameters (from 37 mm to 105 mm), you will find suitable solutions for both compact cameras and interchangeable lens cameras. With ring adapters, you can easily match the lens thread and the size of the chosen filter.
- Polarizing CPL filters (37–105 mm) for reducing reflections and increasing contrast
- Color filters (red, yellow, blue, orange) for creative and black-and-white photography
- Soft focus filters for portraits and a moody, soft visual world
- Step-up / step-down ring adapters for different filter and lens threads
- Retro adapters for Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Olympus bodies for creative reverse lens macro photography
- Special filter adapters for certain models (e.g., Nikon Coolpix P7000/P7100, Panasonic DMW-FA1)
Which Camera Filter Should You Choose?
When selecting the right filter, you should first check the lens thread diameter (for example, 37 mm, 49 mm, 58 mm, or 105 mm). The VHBW polarizing, color, and soft focus filters, as well as the various ring adapters, are designed to fit these sizes. If your filter and lens sizes differ, you can use a step-up or step-down adapter to match them.
Polarizing CPL filters (from 37 mm to 105 mm) are particularly useful for outdoor photography: they reduce unwanted reflections (from water surfaces, glass), deepen the blue of the sky, increase contrast, and provide richer colors. They can significantly improve image quality during travel, landscape, and city photography, especially in strong sunlight.
Color Filters for Creative and Black-and-White Photography
Red, yellow, blue, and orange filters are especially useful in black-and-white photography as they modify contrast between different color ranges. In color photography, they create a creative atmosphere and unique color effects. The 37 mm, 40.5 mm, 43 mm, 46 mm, 49 mm, 52 mm, 55 mm, 58 mm, and 62 mm versions widely cover the typical sizes of compact and DSLR/MILC lenses.
- Red filter: strong contrast, dramatic skies in black-and-white images
- Yellow filter: finer contrast enhancement, more natural skin tones
- Blue filter: tone modification, experimentation for portraits and landscapes
- Orange filter: an intermediate solution between yellow and red filters, with a bold yet natural effect
Soft Focus Filters and Special Adapters
Soft focus filters (for example, 43 mm, 49 mm, 52 mm, 58 mm) are popular in portrait photography: they slightly soften the image, reduce the visibility of skin imperfections, and create a dreamy atmosphere. They provide an optically created soft effect rather than one created in post-processing, which also works well for video use.
The VHBW step-up and step-down ring adapters (for example, 37–46 mm, 46–43 mm, 46–37 mm, 49–46 mm, 52–37 mm, 52–42 mm, 58–42 mm, 58–43 mm, 58–52 mm, 60–55 mm) allow a single filter to be used on multiple lenses. This is particularly economical if you work with several lenses of different thread sizes but do not want to purchase a separate filter for each diameter.
Retro adapters (49 mm, 52 mm, 55 mm, 58 mm versions for Canon EOS, Nikon D3000, Panasonic DMC-G1, Olympus bodies) are designed for reverse lens macro photography. In this case, the front thread of the lens is attached to the body, allowing for high magnification and extreme close-ups without special macro optics. When using this solution, it is important to consider the lens's focal length, aperture, and focusing method.
