The VE.Bus BMS provides protection for each cell of Victron lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4 or LFP) batteries.
Each cell of LiFePO4 batteries must be protected against overvoltage, undervoltage, and excessive temperature. Victron LiFePO4 batteries have built-in balancing, temperature, and voltage monitoring (acronym: BTV) and connect to the VE.Bus BMS with two M8 round connector cables. Multiple batteries' BTVs can also be interconnected. For details, please refer to the LiFePO4 battery documentation.
The BMS:
- Disconnects or turns off loads if the cell voltage is low.
- Reduces power supply if there is clear cell overloading or overheating (only VE.Bus products, see below).
- Disconnects or turns off battery chargers in case of clear cell overvoltage or overheating.
