The VE.Bus BMS provides protection for each cell of Victron lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4 or LFP) batteries.
Each cell of LiFePO4 batteries must be protected against overvoltage, undervoltage and excessive temperature. Victron LiFePO4 batteries have built-in balancing, temperature and voltage monitoring (BTV) and are connected to the VE.Bus BMS via two M8 circular connector cable units. BTVs of several batteries can be connected together. For details, please refer to the LiFePO4 battery documentation.
The BMS:
- Shuts down or switches off loads when the cell is energized.
- Reduces power supply when there is a clear cell overload or overheating (VE.Bus products only, see below).
- Switch off or disconnect battery chargers when there is a clear cell overvoltage or overheating.
