Using Bluetooth Smart
With the Bluetooth service turned on, any smartphone, tablet, or other device is suitable for tracking, modifying settings, and updating the charger when new software features become
available.
Phoenix Smart (1+1): two outputs for charging 2 battery groups
The second output, limited to approximately 3 A, serves to recharge the starter battery with a slightly lower output voltage.
Phoenix Smart (3): three full current outputs for charging 3 battery groups
Each output provides output current at full rated power. However, the combined output of the 3 outputs must never exceed the rated current of the charger.
Automatic voltage equalization
The charger compensates for voltage drops occurring on the DC cable by slightly raising the output voltage when the DC current increases. Relevant details can be found in the manual.
Adaptive 5-stage charging algorithm: bulk – absorption – regeneration – float – storage
The Phoenix Smart charger features the well-known "adaptive" battery management, which can be preset to match different types of batteries. The "adaptive" function automatically optimizes the charging process depending on the battery usage mode.
The right amount of charge: variable absorption time
When consumption is low (for example, in the case of yachts connected to shore power), the absorption time is short to prevent overcharging of the battery. After high consumption, the absorption time is automatically extended to ensure the battery is fully charged.
Prevention of damage due to excessive gas formation: BatterySafe mode
If a high absorption voltage is chosen for fast charging of the battery, the charger prevents damage caused by excessive gas formation by automatically limiting the degree of voltage increase when it reaches the voltage threshold for gas evolution.
Lower maintenance requirements and aging in the battery's idle state: storage mode
The storage mode starts after there has been no power consumption from the battery for 24 hours. In storage mode, the float charge voltage is reduced to 2.2 V/cell (13.2 V for a 12 V battery) to minimize gas formation and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week, the system raises the voltage to the absorption level for "equalizing" the battery. This function prevents electrolyte stratification and sulfation, which are the main causes of early battery failure.
Also for charging lithium-ion (LiFePO₄) batteries
The charger can be turned on or off by connecting a relay or an open collector optocoupler output that establishes a connection between the lithium-ion battery management system (BMS) and the remote on/off connector. Voltage and current regulation may also be implemented via Bluetooth service.
Fully programmable charging algorithm
The charging algorithm can be programmed using Bluetooth or the VE.Direct user interface. The mode button allows selection of three pre-programmed algorithms.
Remote on/off
The remote on/off function consists of two terminals: these are the remote H (high current) and remote L (low current) switches. A remote on/off button or relay contact can be established between the H and L options. The H terminal can be set for high current, and the L terminal for low current. Details can be found in the manual.
The VE.Direct interface
Wired data transmission connection to the color control panel, computer, or other devices.

Can be programmed via the VE.Direct interface or a device with Bluetooth service enabled, for triggering based on an alarm or other event.
