AGM, Lithium battery chargers

AGM and Lithium Battery Charger – All Types in One Place

Our range includes AGM battery chargers, LiFePO4 chargers, lithium-ion chargers and gel battery chargers – from 2A to 40A, for home and professional use. We stock IVT solar charge controllers (SCDplus, SCplus, Shunt, MPPT, MPPTplus series) and VHBW fishing battery chargers, available immediately from stock with a 2-year warranty. Every charger features intelligent multi-stage charging that protects the battery from overcharging.

Which Charger Suits Which Battery?

  • AGM and gel battery charger – for lead-acid, AGM and gel batteries. Charging voltage 14.4–14.7V. Ideal for cars, motorcycles and UPS systems.
  • LiFePO4 battery charger – exclusively for lithium iron phosphate batteries. Charging voltage 14.4–14.6V (12V systems). Essential for solar, motorhome and marine systems.
  • Lithium-ion charger – for Li-ion batteries. Charging voltage 12.6V (3S) or 16.8V (4S). For power tools and hand tools.
  • Combined AGM/LiFePO4 charger – automatically detects and optimally charges both types. Ideal for mixed use.

IVT Solar Charge Controllers – Types and Differences

  • IVT Shunt charge controller (8A and 20A) – PWM technology for simple solar systems. For 12V/24V batteries, entry-level.
  • IVT SCplus charge controller (15A, 25A, 40A) – advanced PWM with LCD display and multiple charging profiles. Reliable performance for small and medium solar systems.
  • IVT SCDplus charge controller (15A, 25A with display, 40A) – premium PWM series with precise charge regulation and detailed diagnostics.
  • IVT MPPT charge controller (10A, 20A, 30A) – Maximum Power Point Tracking, 10–30% more efficient than PWM. For 12V/24V systems.
  • IVT MPPTplus charge controller (10A, 20A, 30A) – top-of-the-range MPPT series, compatible with FB-04 touchscreen remote and DSW inverters, supports LiFePO4 charging profile.

VHBW Fishing Battery Chargers

VHBW fishing chargers are designed for Daiwa BM-series (BM2500, BM2300, BM2900, BM2600) deep-water fishing batteries, with 14.8V Li-Ion chemistry. Also available with built-in battery (2500 mAh and 5000 mAh versions).

How Much Charging Current Do You Need?

  • 2–5A – smaller batteries (7–50Ah), maintenance charging, motorcycle
  • 10–15A – car, motorhome, medium solar system (50–150Ah battery)
  • 20–40A – high-capacity batteries (150Ah+), fast charging, industrial use

Rule of thumb: the charging current should be 10–20% of the battery capacity. For a 100Ah battery, 10–20A is ideal.

Frequently Asked Questions Before Buying a Battery Charger

Can an AGM battery be charged with a standard charger?

Not recommended. AGM battery charging requires a specific charging curve – standard lead-acid chargers can overcharge them, causing permanent damage to the valve-regulated battery. Always use an AGM-compatible intelligent charger. The IVT SCplus and SCDplus series have a built-in AGM charging profile.

What is the difference between an MPPT and PWM charge controller?

A PWM charge controller (IVT Shunt, SCplus, SCDplus) is a simple, cost-effective solution for small solar systems – it reduces the panel voltage directly to the battery level. An MPPT charge controller (IVT MPPT, MPPTplus) continuously tracks the panel's maximum power point and can extract 10–30% more energy from the same panel. For larger systems and cloudy conditions, MPPT clearly pays off.

What is the difference between a smart and a conventional charger?

A smart battery charger automatically detects the battery type and state of charge, then charges in multiple stages (pre-charge, bulk, absorption, float). You can't accidentally overcharge – it switches to maintenance mode automatically. A conventional charger charges at a fixed current and can overcharge.

What charger is needed for a LiFePO4 battery?

A LiFePO4-specific charger is mandatory – it cannot be safely charged with a standard AGM charger. The charging voltage for a 12V LiFePO4 battery is 14.4–14.6V, with a termination voltage of 14.6V. The IVT MPPTplus series natively supports the LiFePO4 charging profile.

How do you charge a completely flat AGM battery?

If the battery voltage has dropped below 10V, many chargers won't start automatically. In this case you need a charger with a pre-charge (desulfation) function – this attempts to recover the battery to a chargeable level with low current. The IVT SCplus and SCDplus models include this function.

Can multiple batteries be charged in parallel?

Only batteries of the same type and the same state of charge can be connected in parallel during charging. With the high-power IVT MPPT 30A and MPPTplus 30A charge controllers, parallel-connected battery banks can be safely charged. Need help with the wiring? Call us: +36 1 490 0345.
